Q: Are you bonded and insured?
A: Yes, we are bonded and carry insurance through PROfur. We are a licensed business in the City of Moose Jaw.
Q: What sets you apart from a kennel?
A: Comfy Critters Pet Sitting provides in-home care for your beloved pets. They get to stay at home, surrounded by familiar sights and smells. Kennels are noisy and overstimulating for pets, especially the more timid and anxious ones. Kennels also carry a risk of your animals contracting diseases such as kennel cough or worse. In kennels, sometimes animals are too stressed to eat their meals, or they experience GI upset. With drop-in pet sitting, we follow your pet's specific routine. They get to stay safe and calm, which makes them much more likely to eat all of their food. We provide one-on-one attention, playtime, walks, and enrichment. After every single visit, you receive a digital report card with a written update, photos, and a video. There is a super convenient app for clients to book their own services, pay invoices, and communicate with sitters. The biggest thing? You're never left wondering how they're doing. If you ever have any questions while you're away, we are just a message away! Our #1 goal is keeping you and your pets comfortable - so you can actually enjoy your vacation.
Q: Can I request a specific sitter?
A: We have a wonderful team of sitters who are eager to care for your pets. Scheduling is based on availability. Requests go to Sarah first, and are divided among staff as her schedule fills up. We understand your pets get into a routine with a specific sitter, but all of our sitters are more than capable of providing warm, loving care for your pets. Requests for specific sitters are not guaranteed.
Q: Can I request a specific time?
A: Due to how many pets we care for each day, specific times are not always possible. Especially for our busiest time slots (8 am-10 am, 11:30 am-1:30 pm, and 6 pm-8 pm). We make no guarantees about the timing of visits, even that they fall within the requested time window. We will do our best to get everyone seen in a timely manner, but during busy seasons (Christmas especially), the timing may be slightly different from the time window you request. If it is very important to you that your pet gets out after 8 pm for their bedtime visit, we are available to go no later than 9:15 pm for an additional $5.
Q: What does a typical day look like, and how long will my pet be alone?
A: We start our mornings at 8 am. Dogs take first priority for early morning visits, as they need to go outside to potty. We prioritize visit order based on the pet's age, medical needs (medications, etc.), and whether they are crated. The rest of their day is up to you and how many visits you wish to book. For dogs, we typically like to do a morning, afternoon or supper time visit, and of course, bedtime. We recommend 3-4 visits per day for dogs, and 1-2 visits per day for cats. Cats that are free-fed and not super attention-oriented tend to do ok with one 45-minute visit per day. This allows us to check the house, refill food and water, scoop litter boxes, and settle in for some cuddles and playtime. If your cats are on a twice-per-day feeding routine, we highly recommend booking 2 visits per day. Cats do best when their routine is not disrupted. This helps prevent unwanted behaviours.
During each visit, we go outside with the dogs and follow their care instructions for feeding, etc. We make sure their minds stay busy by setting up little sniff games, going for slow "sniffaris" (sniff walks), interactive playtime, and of course, lots of love and attention. You will get to see what we got up to during each visit with our report cards!
Q: What is your booking and cancellation policy?
A: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. This deposit goes towards your final invoice.
The remaining balance must be paid 7 days before service begins. Bookings are not considered final until they are paid in full. If payment is not received by the day service begins, the booking will be cancelled, and the deposit will be lost.
Cancellations made less than 7 days (168 hours) before service begins are subject to a 100% cancellation fee.
Q: Do you charge more on holidays?
A: Yes, there is a $7 per visit surcharge on Family Day, Good Friday, Easter, Canada Day, Labour Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
